Leadership & Team
HOY Construction is guided by a seasoned executive team: Jeff Knowles, Chairman of the Board and licensed architect; Adam Ritt, President with expertise in construction and real estate development; Rob Melancon, Chief Financial Officer and CPA; Sam Adsit, Senior Vice President; Will Crocker, Vice President; and Vincent Giovanelli, Vice President. Together, they combine decades of experience with a commitment to the values established by our founder, Hap Hoy.

Our success is strengthened by skilled superintendents, carpenters, equipment operators, and laborers. Their craftsmanship, dedication, and expertise consistently deliver exceptional results on every project.
Employee Ownership
Since 1992, HOY Construction has been employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and 100% employee owned since 2015. This structure fosters pride, accountability, and long-term commitment—reflected in one of the lowest turnover rates in the industry. Today, our team’s average tenure exceeds 25 years, ensuring experience and dedication on every project.
Community Commitment
Giving back is a core value at HOY Construction. Our employees have served in leadership and advisory roles with organizations such as Hampton Roads ACRE, Builders and Contractors Exchange, Virginia Beach Visions, Norfolk Assembly, Junior Achievement, Boys and Girls Club, and many more.

Our annual Hap Hoy Memorial Golf Tournament has raised nearly $900,000 for local charities, reflecting our ongoing dedication to strengthening the communities where we live and work.
